There’s a good chance that you spent March 17th at your favorite watering hole, enjoying a few cold ones to commemorate St. Patrick’s Day. Well, now that March is coming to its inevitable conclusion, there’s another holiday quickly approaching that will give you an excellent reason to enjoy some more cold ones. And no, it’s not Easter. While there’s always a good reason to head down to Bogey’s Sports Pub to enjoy some cold drinks, warm food, and a welcoming atmosphere, you might want to leave April 7th free on your calendar. Why? Because it’s national beer day, we want you to come to celebrate with us!
What is National Beer Day?
We’re glad you asked! To find the answer, we have to go back to a period in history known as the “roaring twenties.” While it’s no secret that Americans love their cold, sudsy beverages, there was a period of time in which the sale and consumption of alcohol were illegal. This era, known as prohibition, gave rise to a wave of violent crime as mobsters such as Al Capone bootlegged alcohol to a thirsty nation. The legislation was repealed in 1933 by President Franklin Roosevelt, who allowed beer to once again be sold as long as it was less than 4.0% ABV. Because the bill was signed on April 7th, this occasion is observed as National Beer Day.
Celebrating at Bogey’s
In this day and age, the variety and types of beer that are available are almost never-ending. There are many different ways in which beer is brewed, and at Bogey’s. We have a considerable variety that anyone will enjoy. So, what will you choose? If you’re thinking about having some pizza at Bogey’s, you’ll need something to wash it down with. Some of our domestic beers, such as Budweiser, always pair well with dough and cheese, as do some of the imported drinks, such as Modelo or Tecate. If you have a more refined taste when it comes to the beers you choose, we have you covered. Consider one of our IPAs or Sam Addams. No matter what your tastes might be, there’s a drink waiting for you here at Bogey’s.
